UNION COUNTY – An air stagnation advisory has been put into effect until 3:00 p.m. on Monday for the following areas:
Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Oregon, Grande Ronde Valley Wallowa County, Northern Blue Mountains OF Oregon, Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon, John Day Basin, Ochoco John Day Highlands, East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades including the cities of Arlington, The Dalles, Cove, Elgin, La Grande, Union, Enterprise, Joseph, Wallowa, Meacham, Tollgate, Long Creek, North Powder, Ukiah, Dayville, John Day, Mitchell, Monument, Spray, Brothers, Paulina, Prairie City, Senec, La Pine, and Sunriver.
People in these areas can expect poor air quality through Monday. People with respiratory issues should follow their physician’s advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air.
State air quality agencies highly recommend that no outdoor burning occur and that residential wood burning devices be limited as much as possible. According the state air quality agencies, prolonged period of stagnant air can hold pollutants close to the ground where people live and breathe.
