According to the Wallowa Avalanche Center, there is a moderate risk for avalanches in the Blue Mountains.
The 12 – 24″ of new snow received early in the week is not bonding well to the old snow surface. Loose dry avalanches can be triggered on steep solar aspects where slick melt-freeze crusts exist. On northerly aspects a weak layer can be found below the new snow. Carefully evaluate any slopes greater than 35 degrees for instability.
