Baker City, Ore – (Release from Baker City Manager) Baker City would like to welcome Nick Cripe to our Fire department. Nick joined the Baker City Fire Department as a paid part-time volunteer in September 2022 and was recently selected for the 40-hour Fire Fighter position. He started at the Baker City Fire Department in his new position on January 23, 2023. Nick, a graduate of Baker High School, earned his Fire Science Degree from Central Oregon Community College in Bend and worked for La Pine Fire Department as a student, paid-time volunteer while attending school. We are glad he has joined our Baker City Staff.
Baker City would also like to wish two of our firefighter’s success as they move on to new endeavors in other locations. Thank you Ryan Tachenko and Ben Decker for your service to the department. Baker City will soon advertise to fill these positions.
City Council will meet on February 14 in a regular meeting. The agenda item discussions from the January 24, 2022 Council Work Session will be included in the agenda as well as additional items related to the audit. The agenda packet will be published next week.
I have been advertising for volunteers to participate in Boards and Commissions. The City Council closed accepting applications for this round of review on January 13, 2022. They will interview and appoint on February 14 at their regular council meeting.
This does not mean that you cannot submit an application for a future appointment. The City Recorder is always able to receive and keep applications for openings. The City Council will open a new round very soon for any Board or Commission left unfilled after the upcoming meeting.
Have a great weekend.
Jonathan Cannon, City Manager
