KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (Release from Eastern Oregon University Athletics) The NAIA has announced the third installment of the 2022 Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Ratings as of Wednesday, Dec. 14. The Lady Mountaineers have officially worked their way into the top 25 sitting at No. 20 in the nation.
Prior to the ranking, Eastern had received votes in the first two polls, but this is their first time making it into the top 25 this season. The ranking comes after a strong stretch that saw the Mounties take down then No. 20 Southern Oregon University (now No. 23) by a score of 67-54. In their latest weekend of action the Mounties beat rival College of Idaho by an impressive 41 points and followed that game up with an exhibition win over Whitman College. Through the first stretch stretch of the season, EOU currently sits at 6-1 with their only official loss coming to No. 18 Montana Western.
The Mountaineers continue conference play this weekend taking on Warner Pacific on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Multnomah on Saturday at 3 p.m. Both games will be played in Quinn Coliseum at home.
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Independents and Unaffiliated Groups.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered low ratings) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the team appears on.*
- Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes.”
