Marion County – On Monday, December 12, 2022, at approximately 10:13 PM, the Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 99E, near milepost 34, in Marion County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a gray 2011 Lexus, operated by Moises Llamas Fernandez (27), of Salem, was traveling southbound on Hwy 99E when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and collided with a tree. The operator, Fernandez, and passenger, Pedro R Leon-Cueto (25), of Gervais, suffered fatal injuries during the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the cause of the crash.
OSP was assisted by the Woodburn Fire Department, Woodburn Police Department, and ODOT.
