Baker County – (Release from Baker County Sheriff’s Office) On January 26, 2023, at approximately 4:37 p.m., Baker County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a report of an intoxicated driver heading toward Prairie City.
The suspect vehicle, a 2015 Audi A4, was located by deputies on Highway 7 near milepost 41. Deputy Teixeira made contact with the driver, identified as Kristopher Charles Champie (43 yoa) of Canyon City, Oregon. A child passenger was also in the vehicle. After conducting an investigation, it was determined that Champie was driving under the influence.
Champie was charged with DUII, Reckless Endangering, and Driving While Suspended.
