When local middle school athlete Carleigh Radke couldn’t play sports due to an injury, she found other ways to contribute to her team.

Radke, a seventh grader at La Grande Middle School would play sports year around at her school, that is until she until she broke her wrist. Radke didn’t let that get her down, instead she started figuring out other ways she could contribute. She started keeping the books and scores at the games, and before long was even singing the National Anthem at the start of games for the middle school, high school, and even Eastern Oregon University.

According to Radkes mom, her daughters passion for singing started early in life.

“I swear she can sing any song that comes on the radio. I bought Carleigh a karaoke machine when she was 3, she would sing and dance non-stop,” said Radke’s mom.
