On the morning of February 11, 2022 a group of approximately 40 parents and students gathered outside the front of La Grande Middle School in protest of the ongoing mask requirements in the public schools.
The group peacefully protested the mandate by standing in solidarity, holding signs that read things like, Truth over Lies, Freedom over Fear, I trust my immune system, and Truth Health and Freedom. Passerby’s honked and cheered in support of the group.
School administrators were on scene and even cordially greeted members of the group.
Yesterday, Superintendent George Mendoza put out a letter addressing today’s planned protest, encouraging students and parents to take their message to state leaders, but also discouraging outright defiance of the mask mandate within the school buildings.
Local law enforcement was also present on scene, making sure everything remained peaceful.
