Kansas City, Mo. – (Release from Eastern Oregon University Athletics) Eastern Oregon University Women’s Basketball has moved up in the latest NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. Released Wednesday morning, the Mountaineers jumped from No. 16 to No. 14 in the rankings.
Since the last ranking the Mounties are 5-0, with a huge top-10 win over then ranked No. 9 Lewis-Clark State College. Eastern Oregon currently sits tied for first in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with four games remaining in the regular season.
Eastern will take their fresh No. 14 ranking into a weekend slate of games against Corban and Bushnell. The Mounties will take on Corban at 5:30 p.m. on Friday in La Grande followed by a 3 p.m. tilt against Bushnell at home to round out the weekend.
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Independents, and Unaffiliated Groups.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place, and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered low ratings) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the team appears on.
- Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes.”
