La Grande, Ore – The idea of a four-day school week in the La Grande School District has come to an end.
On Tuesday, Jan. 24 the La Grande School board on recommendation by Superintendent George Mendoza, and the four-day week committee, decided to not pursue switching to the four-day week model.
This follows months of research conducted, which included a district-wide survey to parents and community members, and a town hall meeting.
Alternative options proposed by Mendoza and the four-day week committee were to pause for 3-5 years and focus on implementing a five-day calendar which would include more three day weekends, half days, and personal days for staff.
