NEW YORK – 55-year-old R. Kelly was sentenced by a New York Judge to 30 years in federal prison on Wednesday, June 29 for using his position as a former R&B artist to sexually abuse a plethora of underaged fans.
Kelly has been in jail since 2019 without bail regarding multiple cases currently against him and this is not his first time facing the consequences for crimes of this nature.
Despite mounds of testimony and evidence, Kelly did not admit any guilt and utilized his fifth amendment right not to testify. His layers argued Kelly should receive no more than 10 years in prison, however, a judge has not only given the former star jail time, they also ordered him to pay a $100,000 fine.
Kelly will see another day in court on August 15 for charges in Chicago regarding child pornography.
